Eighteen years ago, while Libyans were celebrating "'Eid al-Mailood", Mu'ammar al-Qadhafi's revolutionary committees [RC] executed nine young Libyans accused of murdering Ahmed Musbah al-Werfalli, a known member of the RC, in Benghazi in August 1986. On the 17th of February 1987, six of the accused were publicly hanged in Benghazi's sports arena, they are: Ali Abdel-Aziz al-Bar'asi, Al-Mahjoub al-Senoussi Mahjoub, Saad Khalifa al-Tarhouni, Sami Abdella Al-Zaidani, Ahmed Mohammed al-Fallah and Isam Abdel-Qader al-Badri.
The other three were executed in their military barracks, they are: Ali Ahmed al-Eshaibi, Munir Mohammed Manna' and Saleh Abdel-Nebi al-Abbar. The executions were repeatedly shown on Libyan television.
