Final Message To Anonymous

Mr. Anonymous, this is getting to be very stale. I will never respect you even if you describe my family and me with all the nice words in the English and Arabic languages. You have no honor because honorable people do not do what you did. I told you how you should have acted and that was to contact me and ask me about my relationship to the Quarterly. Had you done that you would now have a friend for life who respects you. What you have now is someone who is convinced that you are out to harm him and his family. I promise you that I will do my best to find out
 Would you now please
 convince Qathafi of that?
 Maybe now after 21 years
of exile I can go back home
 and finagle some cushy
job that can give me access
 to Libya's abundant
 treasure. Everyone is
 scooping so why shouldn't
I scoop too? I would be
 eternally grateful.
your identity to repay my debt to you. I also need your name to recommend you as my replacement on the Quarterly. You have proven to me that you will be in good company because you have managed to master the art of hurting anything Arab or Muslim. You are a back stabber and a hypocrite. Look at your latest post. In it you impugn the honor of the same person who you made so much fuss about respecting in your last post, namely Mansour Rashid. You call yourself a friend of my family well I tell you none of us wants your friendship. Isn't it enough for you that Mansour paid with his life? Doesn't that count for something in your eyes ya munhat? When is enough, enough for you? You also attacked Mr. Migrisi whom I doubt you even know. Few Libyans are, for a variety of reasons, willing to lend their names to such academic endeavors. Look at you. You are even afraid of submitting your name to this web site because you claim fear of retribution from Pipes. Do you really think that Pipes spends his time on Dr. Ibrahim's web site waiting for you to post? Back to Mr. Migrisi's Journal. Does it really matter who is on the editorial board as long as the truth is the goal. In the words of Deng Xio-peng, "what does it matter if the cat is yellow or red as long as it catches mice?" I wonder who is next on your hit list? You have convinced me that cowardice, sloth, and mendacity the three traits of the Qathafi regime are more pervasive among us Libyans than I ever thought possible. Shame on you for impugning people of honor. Shame on you.

You find a problem with my recommendation for Takeyh to replace me. Make up you mind. Damned if I do and damned if I don't. Had I nominated an Arab or a Muslim you would have accused me of something or another and now that I recommended a Jew you are finding a problem with that too. What is it with you? If being on the editorial board of the Quarterly is OK for another Arab then why is it so bad for me? I don't really give a damn who Pipes chooses to put on his board. It is his business not mine. You can choose to believe me or not, but I did tell you the truth. I agreed to review based on "look basis," but had no idea that my name was on the editorial board. Do you really want to know why? Well, I am going to tell you whether you want to or not. God is my witness and I do not lie, I NEVER NEVER EVER read more than one article of the Middle East Quarterly in my entire life and that was in the early 90's. I don't read it simply because it is not the kind of stuff I like to read. This is the reason for the conditional review that I thought might give a counter balance to the Arabs. Hence I never saw my name in there. It never occurred to me that my name would be there because I agreed to review. Whether you believe this or not is up to you but that is the truth and I would have thanked you for bringing this to my attention had you contacted me before you decided to pursue a path of self-aggrandizement at my expense. Had I asked for my name to be on the list I would have told you. I am not ashamed of actions I take willingly because I am an honorable man. In this case I neither asked nor knew that my name was there. FEAR ALLAH and think of your actions before you do them not after they are done. Your word is yours until it leaves your mouth.

Now you are maintaining that Qathafi and I do not differ much in our outlook. Bahi, al-hamdu Lillah. Would you now please convince Qathafi of that? Maybe now after 21 years of exile I can go back home and finagle some cushy job that can give me access to Libya's abundant treasure. Everyone is scooping so why shouldn't I scoop too? I would be eternally grateful. Listen ya BUSHT, what will please you? To see me hanging by the neck in a square in Libya before you believe there is a difference between him and me. But maybe that is what you are after all along. Indeed you might even be one of the judges that sentence me. Well take this as a signed confession. I HATE THIS REGIME AND ALL IT STANDS FOR. And until the last breath in me I will fight it and fight people like you who knowingly or unknowingly do its bidding. At least I critique the regime in the open with my real name, and write with my real name and go on the net with my real name and confronted Dorda with my real name and confronted you with my real name. Would you have written any review had it been let say on Abdulsalam Bu-Futtaha. I highly doubt it. I also go on the voice of America with my name, the BBC with my name, the Austrian Broadcasting Service with my name, ABC with my name and Al-Jazeerah television with my name. Pray tell me what do you do with yours. FEAR ALLAH in your thoughts and actions and do not impugn people. You are in the mud and now I am convince that nothing you do will get you out of it for the simple reason that you are just plain mean and nasty. How can you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning, every morning? Wallahi if you knew Mohammad (PBUH) or the Quran you quote you would neither say nor do what you are doing. The Libyan who said "AL-Safih Isafhak" is right. Wallahi ink Itsafah and I want nothing to do with you from near or far.

If what I said above is still not enough for you, then be my guest and accuse me of everything on the face of the earth. You are of course correct and I am the biggest enemy of all the Arabs. In the immortal words of Red Butler of Gone with the Wind, "quite frankly my dear I don't give a damn." What I do know is that thanks to you I have been getting support, e-mail and phone calls, from the four corners of the earth. You have given me more access to decent and good Libyans than I ever thought possible. Given the choice between you and me, Alhamdu Lillah most have chosen to believe and support me. So now buzz off and keep on baiting me. Perhaps unwittingly you are doing us in the opposition some good. Allah (SWT) is the preserver from evil like you.

Mansour El-Kikhia, Ph.D.
