In reply to the IT wizard who wrote the article on the IT Subject I would like to enlighten him with little more information on the Internet technology:
First, the Internet nowadays is full of pornography websites unsuitable for the Libyan society unless the following is done: 1. All pornography sites are eleminated from the Internet for good or a technology is developed to block them. As you know, if the Internet becomes available for Libyans tomorrow no one will go to work the next day. Libya will become like Turkey and an earthquake will destroy it sooner or later.
Therefore you have two choices, either to stay unplugged or to communicate using the phone instead. The same problem is facing Saudi Arabia where the big Imams have not yet given it the go to be used on the individual level because of pornography and sites attacking the Islamic values.
2. The IT is another way for spying on the world via satellites, all your e-mail is vulnerable and it could be read via secret channels set out by the CIA. Hence as the Libyans say ( your donkey is better than your neighbour's mercedes benz ), it is better to use direct communication than to use Internet and being listened to or your cause your people to lose their Islamic values. Tell me how would you solve the problem of pornography and the sites which attacking Islam directly. there are two problems in libya
3. The demand for cars is one million cars every 8 years on the average, that is a bill of about $US 10 Billion. If you add another bill for computers and software the country will become like Jordan in debt up to its nose.
1 million computers x $US 1,500 = $US 1.5 billion
It is much better to use horses and donkeys than suffering such debt. Wait until Libyans are able to manufacture computers in Libya.
