Dear Dr. Ighneiwa,
We like to announce the establishment of a new online magazine devoted to Libyan political affairs. We would greatly appreciate it if you make the following announcement available to your readers. Your continuous service and dedication to Libya and Libyans has been and is unrivaled.
Many Libyan Net users had expressed a desire to establish an online magazine that would compliment the growing number of discussion groups and host the well written and thought out articles that normally get lost in the hundreds of mundane posts. After months of planning, hard work and refining, we are pleased to announce that the magazine is ready. Here's the URL:
or simply: http://al-sidra.com
The magazine does not subscribe to any particular ideology and its only goal is to provide capable and willing Libyans, and others interested in Libyan affairs, a medium to publish their opinions, perspectives and analysis. The magazine will attempt to be inclusive and give a chance to all those willing and able to communicate their views and opinions, provided the magazine's guidelines and rules are met.
We like to stress that the magazine is not meant to compete with or duplicate the great efforts of other Libyan sites that offer venue for the exchange of opinions (LFC, Mena, ...), provide news (Libya News & Views, Libya News List, ...) or host literary and artistic works (Libyana, Libyanet, ...) but it hopes to be an extension of such sites adding to the increasingly rich content of materials on the web that is devoted to Libyan affairs.
We like to thank all those who contributed ideas, suggestions and comments as this project evolved from a simple idea to its current form. Our readers' suggestions, comments and criticism will always be our guiding light and constant motivation to make the magazine better and benefit its readers more. We are looking forward to your feedback and contributions.
