Dear Libyan brothers and sisters everywhere.
I am writing this letter to tell you about our beloved son Usama Mostafa Abushagur who has been selected among the higher ranked outstanding students by NASA to be one of their future astronauts preparation programs. Usama is a 19 year old Libyan national who was raised in a very respectful conservative family in the USA. I know Usama and I have shared and discussed with him several issues and found him to be highly motivated, intelligent and self starter with intrinsic desire to achieve conscientious work habits, he always asks why and seeks answers, learns from experiences and improves each time. He inspires confidence, communicates very well and has a unique sense of humor, empathy, honesty and sincerity. We, all Libyans, should be proud of him and ask Allah to reward and give him the strength and power to achieve his objective as an astronaut scientist in the future, also we, all Muslems, need to support and encourage him by congratulating him for what he have accomplished and what he is going to accomplish in the near future. I would like to remind everybody that the BBC channel Thursday published an article about Usama and his colleagues containing pictures and a vedio clip that show how these students get their training in astronomy and I encourage everyone to click on the following link to read the BBC article.
And if you know Usama personally you will recognize him in one of the pictures in the BBC article. We would like here to congratulate his father for his outstanding support of his son; may Allah reward him for that.
